Sheltering under a maple With rain dripping all around; The cloudburst.

David — this verse exhibits quite well what your lessons tell us –– that hokku should be about Nature and the place of humans in nature… well, you are certainly IN nature here. In the center of it and surrounded by it. Your title was right. I think I’ve even gotten some rain on me almost 3,000 miles away.
Great energy in this verse.

This reminds me of a hike I was on, long ago. I could smell the rain, before the cloudburst hit me. I quickly walked to a nearby shelter and just stood there listening to the rain all around me, feeling the cool wind, and watching the birds, that seemed to love the rain. Thanks for this, David!
